What are 4D Scans?

The 3-D scans, that have become more popular than the traditional 2-D, are still pictures of your baby in three dimensions. The most up to date scan is a 4-D scan that are moving 3-D images of your unborn child.  The images projected show the baby as a whole rather than the traditional 2D images which simply show an outline of the baby and has the internal organs visible.

When is the best time to have a 4d Scan performed?

The best time to have a 4-D scan performed is at the 26-30 week time slot. if you perform the scan before 26 weeks the baby has little fat under their skin and the bones of the face will show through their skin. Beyond the 30 weeks mark and their head may be too deep down in the pelvis and you might be unable to see their face.
